Program description
This certificate is available to all students who want to improve their effectiveness as聽writers in business, government or industry. Clear communication with external and聽internal audiences contributes to the success of small and large organizations, non聽profit agencies and government institutions. Students focus on the critical, analytical聽and strategic communications skills needed to be successful. Certificate completion聽requires six courses, two mandatory and four optional.

OSSD or equivalent with
- Grade 12 English (C or U)
Mature students, non-secondary school applicants (19 years or older), and home school聽applicants may also be considered for admission. Eligibility may be met by applicants聽who have taken equivalent courses, upgrading, completed their GED, and equivalency testing. Applicants who have taken courses from a recognized and accredited post-secondary聽institution and/or have relevant life/learning experience may also be considered for聽admission; refer to the Credit for Prior Learning website for details:

How do I apply to the Communication Studies program?
Register on a course-by-course basis, paying as you go
Part-time students do not go through an application process for this program.聽To register for courses, you鈥檒l need a 兔子先生 student number and declare your major. Declaring a major allows you to take all courses under that major.

Finance and fees
As a part-time student, you may be eligible for OSAP funding, depending on the number of courses you take per semester.

As a part-time student, you can take one to three courses per semester, paying on a course-by-course basis.

Online learning
These courses are offered through OntarioLearn. Visit the OntarioLearn webpage to learn more.
OntarioLearn courses are set up as equivalents to the 兔子先生 courses. You can choose to take the ODE courses or the 兔子先生 courses.
When a 兔子先生 course isn鈥檛 available to be delivered online, we鈥檝e listed an OntarioLearn course in the delivery schedule. The majority of the 兔子先生 courses have ODE equivalents set up. You can choose to take either course.
Credit for Prior Learning (CPL)
Previous postsecondary education: If you鈥檝e completed courses, or some or all of a program, at another accredited postsecondary institution, you may be able to transfer all or some of your courses into a related program at 兔子先生.
Relevant work or life experience: If you have relevant work and/or life experience that relates to your program(s) of interest at 兔子先生, Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR) is an academic credit option.
